Decisions have become more complex and the ability to process often conflicting information and to set the right strategic priorities has become a key skill for any leader. The Exercise
Over the course of the 90 minute exercise, the candidate takes on the role of leader of a small island nation called UTOPIA.
Over the course of 15 years (rounds) the participant needs to familiarize himself with the complex situation, process a multitude of information on make decisions on resource allocation.
The strategic goal is to maximize the welfare of the island inhabitants, maximize the health of the environment and stabilize the island's budget.
The participant has different instruments at hand to analyze the complex interdependencies of the island system, to gather background information and finally to make budget allocation decisions.
