The Mid-Management Challenge

The Exercise

HIGHLIGHT is an advanced In-Tray exercise, replacing traditional paper based exercises.

Over the course of the 70 minute exercise, the candidate takes on the role of the head of a branch office of the HIGHLIGHT, a event management firm. The exercise challenges the candidate to manage the performance of the team, difficult clients and even company politics.

Emails from clients, suppliers, employees and bosses demand attention. The candidate has to make a series of decision for each email:

• Priority of the email
• Decision on delegation of tasks
• Selecting among possible decisions
• Selecting among possible courses of actions
• Scheduling tasks in own or employee calendars

Due to the limited time available and the complexity of the task at hand, the participant will be immersed in this demanding exercise from the first minute.
